Eyelash Extensions FAQ

This eyelash extensions FAQ is to help you to have most of your questions answered about lash extensions.

First you should know that eyelash extensions are not for everyone. This is a high maintenance beauty treatment that requires gentle care in order for your lash extensions to last long and stay in good condition.

However because eyelash extensions are safe and semi permanent you will love the natural look and feel of them and truly appreciate the compliments you'll receive as a result. Having great looking eyelashes will accentuate your eyes and enhance your sex appeal!

What Are Eyelash Extensions?

Eyelash extensions are individual semi-permanent synthetic, silk or mink lashes. Lash extension are available in different lengths and thicknesses. I will apply an individual lash extension to one of your eyelashes directly using latex-free medical grade adhesive approved by Health Canada.

Eyelash extensions are an image enhancement beauty service that eliminates the use of mascara – YES you DO NOT need to use any mascara while wearing these eyelash extensions! As a matter of fact they will look and feel so natural that no one will notice that you have extensions on – even up close!

How Long Will My Eyelash Extensions Last?

It is an individual process. You lose one eyelash almost every day. You also grow a new lash to replace the one that fell out. Your eyelash extensions can stay on for approximately 3-4 weeks with proper care and maintenance. However, factors such as eyelash growth, lifestyle and general after care will affect how long your lashes last.

How Often Do I Need To Get Refills?

I recommend that you book your fills initially every 2 weeks. Then as you become familiar with your new extensions and get better at caring for them you may be able to extend the time between fills to every 3 to 4 weeks.

Will My Eyelash Extensions Damage My Natural Eyelashes?

No, not at all! The eyelash adhesive is formulated to create a solid bond, specifically for human lashes. The adhesive dries very soft on the lashes, allowing the lashes to stay flexible and bouncy just like your own lashes. I use medical grade adhesive that is latex-free and is approved by Health Canada.

How Should I Prepare For My Appointment?

  • Before your eyelash extension appointment remove all eye makeup and clean your eyelashes with mild, oil free cleanser
  • Do not use oil based makeup removers to clean your eyelashes prior to the application
  • Do not put on any mascara
  • If you are a contact lens wearer, please remove contact lenses and wear glasses to your appointment, or bring a lens case and remove them when you arrive at your appointment
  • Plan to set aside approximately 2 hours for your appointment

What Can I Expect During My Appointment?

Peace and quiet. Your experience will be comfortable and very relaxing.  Many of my clients enjoy the quiet, relaxing environment and fall asleep during the treatment. When they wake up they’re excited about their beautiful new look.

How Should I Care For My Eyelash Extensions?

  • Do not perm or tint eyelashes before or after your eyelash extension application
  • Do not use a regular eyelash curler
  • Do not rub your eyes or eyelashes when washing your face. Clean around the eyes with a wash cloth
  • Do not pull your eyelash extensions, as it will take out your own eyelash as well
  • Do not go in a sauna or hot tub or salt water while wearing eyelash extensions
  • Do not use mascara
  • Do not try to remove the eyelash extensions on your own – make an appointment with me to remove them
  • Do not cut the eyelash extensions (you may cut your own eyelashes)
  • Clean your eye makeup without touching the eyelash extensions
  • Remember to book your next appointment for touch-ups / fills at the end of your appointment

What Happens If An Eyelash Loosens Or Becomes Dislodged?

Don’t pull on the eyelash. Call to make an appointment to have your lash extensions removed or replaced, to avoid damage to your natural eyelash. As your natural eyelashes fall out due to the growth cycle, you will need fills when new eyelashes grow in. At first you may find you need a refill every 2 weeks. As you become accustomed to the eyelash exten¬sions and with a little practice maintaining the eyelash extensions, the time between refills could extend to 3-4 weeks.
